Amokoko School Project Nears Completion

Over recent years the people of our diocese of Kilmore, including the people of Inishmagrath, have generously supported the diocesan mission in Lagos, Nigeria.
Fr Benny Fitzpatrick, a native of Drumnavanagh, Cavan, and a priest of our diocese
has
spent the last 15 years working in the Amokoko area of Lagos.
Fr Benny became convinced that the provision of an proper educational facility would go a long way in combating many of the social problems in the area. If the people were given training in various skills and trades they would be able to make a living for themselves and their families.

In undertaking such a large
project Fr Benny received no financial help
from the Nigerian government nor from
any outside agencies.
It was the generous contributions from the people of Kilmore that enabled him to go ahead.
Over the past five years the people of Inishmagrath,
through the St Patrick’s Day
Lagos Collection,
have contributed over €12,000.
We are happy to report that this project is now near completion.
