An Information Evening for the new Parish Pastoral Councils
in the Shannon/Lough Gill
Pastoral Area
was held in Drumkeeran Community Centre
on Tuesday, 13th November.
Earlier this year all parishes in Kilmore elected new Pastoral Councils.
Fr Michael Router, the Diocesan Pastoral Director,
has commenced a serious information
evenings for the new pastoral councils.
On Tuesday, 13th November, he came to the Community Centre
to talk with the new pastoral
council members for the parishes
of Dromahair, Blacklion/Glangevlin, Ballinaglera
and Inishmagrath.
About 50 people were in attendance for the meeting.
Fr Router gave an outline of the role of the pastoral council in the life of the
parish
and assisted each council to outline some of the goals and targets
it might
aim for over its four-
Each pastoral council consists of the people elected to the council by the parishioners.
It may also consist of some additional members….
The Parish Child Safeguarding Representative is automatically a member of the council.
Additional members, such as Youth Representatives, may be added to council.
Also, the Pastoral Area Representatives appointed by the outgoing council
are included
in the new council.
