The Family Mass
There was a large attendance of families and young children
at a special Family Mass on Sunday, August 24.
The children of the parish who have not yet received Holy Communion
were very much
the focus of this Mass.
Family life was the central theme.
Fr Alwill’s special guest, Pedro, helped the children
to talk about how important
family is in all of our lives.
Pedro invited children to bring up to the altar
items that symbolised the togetherness
of family life.
Among the items they brought to the altar was a game of snakes & ladders
representing
the togetherness and fun families have with games of all kinds.
The Holy Water represented the togetherness of family prayer.
Other items brought up by the children included
a rolling pin, representing the importance
of food in the family,
a family photograph, a DVD and a bottle of water.
Pedro reminded the children that not all children are as lucky as them.
Some children
lives in countries where there is very little water.
Many other children do not have
enough to eat
and there are some children have to live in sheds
because they don’t
have proper houses for homes.
While Holy Communion was distributed by the Eucharistic Ministers
Fr Alwill gave a
special blessing to all the younger children.
