Drumkeeran Church Renovations

Week 3

Starting Monday, 22 June.

(View Progress for Other Weeks)

Monday

As Week 3 of the renovations began
workers removed the slates from the remaining side of the south transept.

The insulation is cut to size and laid between the rafters.

The insulation, in turn, is then covered by the protective felt.

Work also started on power-washing the walls.
Here, to the right of the photo, we can see the contrast between the stones that have been washed
and the unwashed stone to the left of the red scaffolding.
Where necessary, re-pointing work will also be carried out.

Tuesday

Work commenced on the main part of the roof.

Wednesday

On Wednesday the erection of the scaffolding on the town-side of the church was completed.

Here we see the amount of dust that has fallen on the church seating
as a result of the ongoing work on the roof.

Thursday

Despite persistent rain on Thursday the first of the new slates were put onto the roof of the north transept.

Friday

The re-slating, now on the other side of the north transept, continued apace on Friday.

The last of the old slates have been removed from the north side of the main roof.

On the belfry we can again see the stark contrast between the stonework that has been power-washed
and the stonework that has not be washed.
