Farewell Evening for Fr Alwill

Fr Alwill’s Farewell Evening

began with the Celebration of a Thanksgiving Mass

to mark the 40th Anniversary of his Ordination.


Concelebrating with Fr Gerry were Fr Oliver Kelly and Fr John McTiernan

The Mass was attended by a large congregation
a was concelebrated by local and neighbouring priests.

After the Mass a Presentation Function
was held in the Festival Marquee.

Tommy McLoughlin, Chairperson of the Pastoral Council,
presented Fr Gerry with a beautiful watercolour painting of the three local churches.

The painting is by local artist, Ethel McVeigh.

In his homily during the Mass Fr Alwill thanked the people of the parish

for the kindness and support they had given him over his twelve years in the parish.


Tommy McLoughlin and Seamus Gallagher thanked all who had planned
and prepared for the Mass and the function.
