Fr Alwill to Leave Drumkeeran

- New Parish priest Appointed -

Fr Gerard Alwill has announced that he is leaving Drumkeeran

in order to take up a new appointment in another parish.

Fr Alwill, who has been Parish priest in Drumkeeran since 2005,
made his announcement at Masses on the weekend of 8/9 July 2017.

Fr Gerry explained to parishioners that,
after serving 12 years as their Parish Priest,
he felt the time had come move on to another parish.

He has, therefore, agreed to accept a new
appointment from Bishop Leo O’Reilly.

Bishop O’Reilly has appointed him as Parish Priest of Knockninny,
where he will succeed Fr Fintan McKiernan,
who is retiring.

Knockninny is a parish in Co Fermanagh,
centred around the town of Derrylin.

Fr Gerry will take up duty there on 1 September 2017.

- New Parish Priest For Drumkeeran -

The new Parish Priest in Drumkeeran will be

Fr Tom McManus.

Fr Tom is a native of Swanlinbar, Co Cavan.

He taught Science and Maths in St Patrick’s College, Cavan.

He has also served as CC in Shercock, Co Cavan,
and as PP in Corlough.

He too takes up duty on 1 September 2017.
