John Joseph Conwell RIP

The funeral has taken place of the late John Joe Conwell,
Highbury, London,
and formerly of Fingreagh, Drumkeeran.

He died in London on 13 May.

Born in July 1939, John Joe was the oldest of the five children

of Edward and Mary Ellen Conwell,

of Fingreagh, Drumkeeran.

Having attended Kilmore NS,

John Joe worked at various times with the County Council,

with the ESB and at the Arigna power station.

In May 1960 the Conwell family emigrated to England
and settled in the Highbury area of London.

There John Joe found work in the construction industry.
He also worked as a mechanic.
Working on car engines became not only a way of life
but also his great hobby and pastime.

At the age of 52 his working career was cut short
as a result of a serious accident.

Though he would spend the rest of his life in London,
John Joe never forgot his native Fingreagh and Lisnanerris,
and often returned home on holiday.

Over the last few years he suffered from increasing health problems
and he died on 13 May, aged 77.

He is survived by his sisters Kitty and Lily
and by his brothers Martin and Eamon.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated in Drumkeeran Church
on Wednesday, 31 May.

After the Mass, John Joe was laid to rest
in the family plot in Drumkeeran Cemetery.
