Harry is Received into the Catholic Church
The parish community had double cause for celebration on St Patrick’s Day.
Not only were we celebrating the feast of our national patron saint
but we were also celebrating with Harry Wilders and his family
as Harry was formally received in the Catholic Church.
Harry’s wife Breege, Harry Wilders, Harry’s brother and Sponsor Toby and his wife Patricia.
At a special ceremony during the St Patrick’s Day Mass in St Brigid’s Church, Drumkeeran, Harry affirmed his faith in the Catholic Church and received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Harry’s brother Toby was his sponsor.
He was then formally welcomed into the church by Fr Alwill and, on behalf of the parish community, by Mona Travers, Irene Redican, Eamon O’Grady and Andy Redican.
A native of Strabane, Co Tyrone, Harry is well known in local musical circles.
He and his wife Breege have been resident in Liskellew Upper for the past eleven years.
Their son Luke also attended the ceremony.
Harry was warmly applauded by the congregation and, after the Mass, many people came forward to offer him their congratulations and best wishes.
