Lovely Leitrim
Drama Group’s Powerful Presentation
Over the weekend of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 30th, 31st March and 1st April,
Drumkeeran Drama Group staged John McDwyer’s moving drama, Lovely Leitrim.
Tommy Drugan (Peadar Gallagher) and Margaret O’Rourke (Mary Gallagher)
Set in 1980’s Ireland when Ireland, like now, was in the throes of recession, this is a riveting drama about how economic hardship forced people to leave their native Leitrim to seek employment in London and elsewhere.
Seamus Gallagher (Clocker Lynch) and Margaret O’Rourke (Mary Gallagher)
The cast of ten men and two women consisted of experienced Drama Group members such as Seamus Gallagher, Margaret O’Rourke, Paula Loughlin, Thomas McHugh and Andy Redican. But also among the cast was a number of talented newcomers, including David Moran, Gabriel Flynn, Shane Flynn and Joe McNiffe, all of whom were excellent in their particular roles.
The result was a powerful but moving presentation which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
Andrew Redican (The Master) and Paula Loughlin (Maureen)
Once again, the direction was in the capable hands of Pat Duignan.
Peggy Horan was Stage Manager and John Flynn took charge of lighting.
Thomas McHugh is to be highly commended for the design and construction of the stage set.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL CONCERNED IN THIS EXCELLENT PRODUCTION
